Hold on tight to your britches, friends, because The Schube just published his first novel!
The suspense story, Which Lives to Fear, follows a reporter trying to solve a string of child murders which have haunted her family – and a small Arizona town – for years. Folks who’ve given it an early read say it’s a page turner, but we might be a bit biased.
As a former journalist, The Schube has always been drawn to stories involving investigative reporting that uncovers the dark underbelly of our culture. (That’s kind of a highfalutin’ way of saying he likes to write about what he knows.)
Which Lives to Fear focuses on Melissa Wilder, whose family was ripped apart fifteen years ago when a serial killer carved a deep scar through the town of Eloy. The madman butchered her little brother and left her father nearly dead, and then disappeared into eerie silence.
Now Melissa returns home as a talented reporter eager to revisit the cold case – just as the murderer resumes his terrifying spree against the town’s innocent children. Desperate to end the bloodshed, Melissa turns to the only witness who could possibly hold the key to finding the killer: her frail father, but the killer has destroyed both his body and his mind.
When her 7-year-old half-brother disappears, kidnapped by the madman, Melissa’s quest takes on a dire new urgency. Can she piece together her Dad’s fragmented memories in time to save him, or will the killer shatter her family again?
